I have hundreds of colourful life events with “mothers” since my childhood; hence, I’ll share to you one that still rings in mind.

Around 1:00 pm last Nov. 30, 2012, my wife received a phone call from my sister Margie.  My sister said that her group was on their way to visit us.  When my wife informed me, I thought it was a joke.

It was seconds only when I realized that Nanay could have been the principal of this visit trip.  I immediately sent a text message to Margie to find out how many and who are in the group.  My sister replied they are five including Nanay.  I was right it was Nanay who requested Margie to visit the farm.

That’s Nanay and Margie, mother and daughter team; whenever they’re free, they’ll do what they want at the spur-of-the-moment.  There are plentiful of colourful activities my mom and sister did together.  To describe them here will make my blog long enough for you to dwell. Let me find a way to tell those activities in my future blogs.

Driving the car was Abe, the youngest in the four children of Margie; accompanied by his wife and daughter.  Their trip from Manila to Tanauan, Batangas and then to Tayabas, Quezon took only four hours.

As usual my wife prepared a warm merienda and meal for them – cassava cake, mango juice, pork and chicken adobo, ginisang ampalaya with scrambled egg and corned beef in peas.  It was past 7:00 pm when joyful bits and pieces of family news were discontinued.  Abe’s wife who is a call centre staff disclosed that she’s on duty by 12:00 midnight.   Nanay, Margie and Abe’s family have to leave.

My mom-in-law (from Chicago, Illinois and staying with us for vacation) gave them some colourful bead souvenirs which she personally made during her spare time.

As the moon and stars begin to shine in the airy night, Abe started to drive the car towards the highway.  I can’t help hugging my wife while staring at the moon, stars, and the quick vanishing rear lights of the car.  At that moment also, I feel blessed to have caring mothers around me – my Nanay, my sister, my wife and my mom-in-law – all dearly gifts from our God.
